Why are we here? We first set up in Colchester to help support parents of Type 1 Diabetic children (age 0-17). One of the aims of the group is to give parents (recently diagnosed or not) the chance to share their feelings and experiences of diabetes, with people in similar situation. And in a relaxed environment, not in the clinic waiting room!
We are also here for adults of all ages (18 to 50+) with Type 1 Diabetes, who would like to network with other people with the condition.
What are we like? We're an informal group. We don't book halls, run official meetings, keep minutes, or produce newsletters. We don't have a chairman, secretary or treasurer; we don't need any as we're a voluntary group and bunch of friends. We like to think we are approachable - come and find out!
Where can I find out more? We have events, shown on our Facebook page - find us at "Colchester Circle D" by clicking on this link. We have over 60 members, representing maybe 100 people in local families with diabetes, adults and followers. We focus on Colchester, but have some members from adjacent areas.
What do we do? We have meet-ups in the park during summer aimed at families, evening events for adults, and random social occasions for anyone interested! Turn up anytime, but it might be worth letting us know if you are new and want to meet us. We have a lot of informal events and can't guarantee how many will turn up.
